hexagon quilt in progress.....

Ja!  het is gelukt!  alles is gequilt!  Nu heb ik vanmiddag de stroken gesneden voor de binding en ik wil ze er morgen aan maken met de machine; d.w.z. aan 1 kant en aan de andere kant met de hand.  Het wordt dan ook nog even een klusje.
Ik zet het aan de achterkant vast met de machine en aan de voorkant met de hand. Vind ik mooi.

Yes!  done!  everything has been quilted!  This afternoon I've cut the fabric for the binding and I want to add the binding tomorrow with the sewing-machine; that's to say at one side and the other side will be added by hand. It will be quite a job again. I'll add the fabric at the back-side with the machine and at the front-side by hand. I like that better.

still hexagon quilt in progress....

De afgelopen 2 weken waren we naar Texel.  We hebben ongelooflijk genoten!  De quilt nam ik mee en ik heb er aan gewerkt. Alle vierkanten zijn gequilt.

Daarna heb ik gequilt in de onderste rand en nu ben ik bezig met de zijkant. Ik quilt steeds vanuit het midden, ook bij een rand. Ook nu quilt ik uit de vrije hand maar ik volg wel het patroon van de stof.

The last 2 weeks we were on the island Texel. We have enjoyed it so much! I took the quilt with me and I worked on it. All squares have been quilted.

Next I quilted the lower border and now I've started at the right side of the quilt. I always start in the middle when I quilt; also when I quilt a border. This time I quilt free hand again but I do follow the designs in the border.

Op dit moment weet ik nog niet zeker of ik zo genoeg heb gequilt maar als ik alle randen heb gedaan kan ik dat beter zien. Het is wat lastig om te fotograferen.
At this moment I'm not sure if I have quilted enough but when I've finished all borders I will know. It is a bit difficult to take good pictures.

Mooi, de horizontale lijnen zijn gequilt!  Ik heb de draad waarmee ik quilt gebruikt om zo recht mogelijk te quilten.
Nu ben ik net begonnen met de verticale lijnen.

Good, the horizontal lines have been quilted!  I used the quilt-thread to stitch as straight as I can.
Now I've just started with the vertical lines.

(hexagonnen) quilt in progress

Alle hexagonnen zijn gequilt in de naad; het was een hele klus!   Nu ben ik begonnen met het quilten van de stof er omheen.
Als je goed kijkt zie je dat er een soort lijnen-spel in de bloemen-stof zit.  Ik maak daar gebruik van met quilten.
Pas toen ik echt begon te quilten zag ik dat er verschillende motieven rondom de bloemen zitten!  Ik houd hier rekening mee met het quilten. Het quilten gebeurt weer uit de vrije hand.

All hexagons have been quilted in the seams; it was quite a job! Now I've started quilting the fabric around the medaillon.
If you have a closer look you can see a combination of lines in the flowerfabric. I use that combination while I quilt. 
When I started this quilting I found out (not before!) that the decorations in the flower-fabric are different! I keep an eye on this while I quilt. I quilt free hand again.

Sampler quilt is af / finished

De quilt is af! Hij is uit de vrije hand gequilt; vond ik leuk om te doen. In de bloemenrand heb ik 40 cirkels gequilt. De afmeting is ca. 1 vierkante meter.
Ook van de achterkant laat ik een foto zien omdat ik mij niet schaam om ook de dingen te laten zien die niet helemaal goed zijn. Uiteindelijk is het een leerproces. De volgende keer zal ik de knoopjes netjes in de stof doen.
Het "medaillon" heb ik gesloten door er met een dikke wollen draad omheen te naaien. Dat was zwaar om te doen. Deze dikke draad kon ik niet in de stof trekken aan de achterkant.
Alles bij elkaar ben ik blij met deze quilt en ik moet er even een tunnel aan naaien om hem op te kunnen hangen.
Sommige quiltsters/quilters noemen het een AFFO.....    en ik sluit me er bij aan.  Nu ligt er nog een UFO te wachten (unfinished object)  en daar ga ik nu naar staren om te bedenken hoe ik verder ga!

The quilt is finished! It has been quilted free hand and I liked that. I quilted 40 circles in the flowerborder. The quilt measures appr. 39,5 inches (square).
I also show the backside of the quilt as I'm never ashamed to show the mistakes I made; afterall it is a learning-process. Next time I shall work more neat witht the knots.
The "medaillon":  I succeeded to close it by using a thick woolen thread; it was hard to stitch this. I was not able to hide the threads in the fabric at the backside.
All together I'm happy with this quilt and all I have to do now is add a tunnel to be able to hang it on a wall.
Some quiltsters/quilters call this an AFFO (stands for finished).....  and I join them. Now an UFO (unfinished object) is waiting and I will stare at it to find out how to go on!

 Ik heb nu een snijmes en een liniaal en laat vol trots de eerste stroken zien die ik heb gesneden! I have a rotary cutter and a ruler now and very proud I show you the first pieces I made using them!

Gisteren vond ik een prachtige lap stof bij jookies
Het hexagon-medaillon wordt hierop geappliceerd.  Misschien maak ik nog wat ornamenten. Nu eerst appliceren!  De stof is van Windham fabrics.

The hexagon-medaillon will be applicated on this fabric. Maybe I'll add ornaments.  First I'll applicate!  The fabric is from Windham fabrics.

 

doggie nr. 2 and quilts in progress

De lappenmand.....    daar zit ik al een tijdje in maar zo nu en dan ben ik aan het werk met het hondje en de quilts.
I'm not feeling very well lately but every now and then I work on the doggie and the quilts.

Het hondje:  het hoofd is af maar dat kan ik nog niet laten zien omdat ik mijn vriendin wil verrassen; de oren moeten nog gemaakt worden en het lijf moet in elkaar gezet worden.
Doggie:  the head is finished (except the ears)  but I can't show it yet as I wish to surprise my friend; the body can be stitched.

 

De haren voor de zoom zijn geknipt; het hoofd is af (zonder de oren) en het lijf kan in elkaar gezet worden. Het hoofd kan ik nog niet laten zien omdat ik mijn vriendin wil verrassen....

The hairs have been cut for the seams; the head is finished (except the ears) and the body can be stitched. I will not show the head yet as I wish to surprise my friend....

new bear en bear in progress!

Er is een nieuwe beer!  Nee, die heb ik niet zelf gemaakt maar Jenny heeft hem gemaakt van een mohair die ik haar laatst heb gestuurd. Zelf had ik de stof al een paar keer gebruikt en ik had geen zin om er nog eentje van te maken.  Gelukkig!!!   Jenny heeft me heel gelukkig gemaakt met deze prachtige beer!

There is a new bear!  No, I didn't make it but Jenny did using a mohair I sent her some time ago. I had been using the fabric several times and didn't feel like making another bear from the fabric. Great! Jenny has made me very happy with this gorgeous bear!

Kijk haar hier nu zitten de lieverd; geadopteerd door Bruintje en Memories! Look at her, the sweetheart,  being adopted by Bruintje and Memories! 

Jenny is een kei en maakt ook prachtige kleertjes met leuke decoraties!  Jenny is a GREAT artist and she also makes lovely clothes with nice decorations!

Het is zo bijzonder dat ik door het bloggen en berenmaken een aantal heel lieve vriendinnen heb ontmoet! Daar ben ik echt heel dankbaar voor.
It's so special that thanks to blogging and making bears I found a few very dear friends and I'm really very grateful! 

Zelf ben ik ook een beer aan het maken en het schiet al op.  I myself have started with a bear too and I'm making progress.

Deze mohair kreeg ik van mijn vriendin in Denemarken; we hebben geruild omdat zij niets kon met deze stof en ik had er ook eentje liggen waar ik niets mee kon.
This mohair came from my Danish friend; we exchanged fabric as we both had fabric we kind of didn't like.  

Appel/citroen groen............  gekruld en van Steiff Schulte..............  de kleur is lastig vast te leggen dus ik zal mijn uiterste best doen als de beer klaar is om goede foto's te nemen.
Apple/lemon green..........  curly and from Steiff Schulte.....  it is difficult to photograph the colour so I will do my upper-best to take good pic's when the bear is ready. 

 De beer is al bijna af maar dat laat ik nog niet zien......   the bear is almost finished but I don't show it yet! 

Volgende week zal beer klaar zijn / next week bear will be finished.   Patience...........  : ))))

Dan nog even over de quilt waar ik aan werk:  vordert ook!

huisjes-quilt en old English paper piecing / quilt with houses and old English paper piecing

De huisjes quilt is af; het is een combinatie van applique, borduren en machine quilten.
The quilt with houses is finished; it's a combination of applique, embroidery and machine-quilting.

 Hier laat ik wat foto's zien / here I show some pictures:

de randen zijn er aangezet en alle lagen zijn ook aan elkaar gezet; the sashings have been added and all layers are jointed with a help-thread

met behulp van een kartonnen malletje heb ik gequilt met de machine / I used a cardboard point to machine quilt

 en dit is hem dan!  and here it the final result!  Er zitten wat kreukels omdat ik hem steeds moest vouwen om de border er aan te zetten.... komt wel goed!  there are some flaws as I had to fold the quilt all the time to add the border.....  will be OK! 

Zelf vind ik hem erg mooi geworden en de stof die ik vanuit Arizona kreeg kwam zo goed van pas omdat alle kleuren bij elkaar passen!
I myself like it very much and the fabric I got all the way from Arizona is perfect as the colours match perfectly!

De quilt is ca. 66 x 34 cm  /  the quilt measures appr. 26 x 13,5 inches.

Het was echt goed voor mijn zelfvertrouwen om deze quilt te maken / it was really good for my self-confidence to make this quilt 

Met de andere quilt ben ik ook verder gegaan en er zijn nu 9 blokken af / I did go on with the other quilt too and I have finished 9 blocks now.

Dit zijn de blokken bij elkaar en nu moet ik op zoek naar een goede kleur voor de sashings. These are all blocks together and now I must look for a matching colour fabric for the sashings.

Old English Paper Piecing block 5, 6, 7

Zo tussen de bedrijven door heb ik weer 3 blokken gemaakt.
In between I've made 3 blocks again.

Op dit moment twijfel ik tussen 9 blokken met daar omheen andere stof voor een medaillon-quilt en gewoon doorgaan met blokken maken.
At this moment I hesitate if I shall make 9 blocks surrounded with other fabric for a medaillon-quilt or just go on with the blocks.

Een vriendin roept steeds:  van mij!!!   go on!!!!   Maar dat weet ik nog zo net niet!!!
A friend keeps calling:  mine!!!  Go on!   But I'm not sure about that! 

Het wordt lastig om toch een bepaalde rust in de quilt te krijgen. It will be difficult to create some "peace" in the quilt. 

Nu eerst nog maar eens 2 blokken maken en dan opnieuw kijken!
Now first I'll make 2 new blocks and will have a look again then!

muis en quilt / mouse and quilt

Van alles wat!  Voor een lieve vriendin heb ik een muisje gemaakt en een huisje erbij. 
Het muisje is 7 cm / 2,8 inches en kan alleen staan; het heeft echte scharniertjes. Dit muisje houdt nogal van snacks en daarom heeft het een stapeltje kaas gekregen gemaakt van foam-klei (ball clay).

A little bit of everything!  For a dear friend I made a mouse with a house. Mouse is 7 cm / 2,8 inches, is stand alone and is 5-way disc-jointed. Mouse LOVES snacks so I made  some cheese for it (made of foam-clay / ball clay).

Verder heb ik blok 4 van de sampler quilt in de Old English Paper Piecing methode af!
I also finished block 4 of the sampler quilt in the Old English Paper Piecing method!

 Block 5 here I come!!!!

Inmiddels ben ik ook begonnen aan een nieuw klein beertje maar opeens dacht ik: ik wil een VETTE muis maken!  Ik moet het nog ontwerpen.

In between I also started with a small bear but suddenly I thought I want to make a FAT mouse! I still have to design it.
